The above quote from Saana Murray, the Wai 262 claimant for Ngati Kuri in her evidence to the Waitangi Tribunal encapsulates the key essence of the claim brought by the six Iwi claimants back in 1991. This presentation will discuss the aspirations of the three Tai Tokerau claimants I represented in the Wai 262 claim (Ngati Kuri (Saana Murray), Te Rarawa (Del Wihongi), and Ngati Wai (Hori Parata)), the key findings of the Waitangi Tribunal in its report ‘Ko Tenei Aotearoa’ and the response of the Crown to date since the report was released in 2011.
